How Secure is My “Secure” Dallas Apartment?

Picture
It seems that crime rates are on the rise no matter where you live.  We do the best we can with Home Security Systems, car alarms and even watchdogs.  But seeing to it that your apartment is safe is something we all value and, more likely than not, need.

Gated Communities; Stuffy or Safe (or Both)?

A certain West Dallas apartment community (which will remain nameless) is a prime example of safety in numbers. A DART light rail line stop connects this apartment community to the M-line Trolley which can be taken to locations such a as the Dallas Museum of Art.  The area’s knick name, “The Bubble”, is right on the money.  Located along McKinley Avenue it sports restaurants, shops and entertainment, all in one place. Gated community living is available in some of the most sought after communities in Dallas.  Entrances and exits are closely monitored, providing privacy and safety for its residents.  They do tend to promote a “community feeling” and are often used by celebrities and other wealthy residents.

Okay, So You’re Not Donald Trump

Money may not be everything but it can buy a certain level of security.  For those not blessed (or cursed) with limitless funds a locked lobby or pet friendly apartment is probably the best bet.  More and more, apartment complexes are realizing that America loves its pets.  But a big, barking monster of a dog may not be conducive to getting along with the neighbors.  Check out possibilities ahead of time to prevent forced move outs.

We all like to be safe when it comes to our residence.  Choosing a low crime area certainly doesn’t hurt; but as we all know, it isn’t always enough.  Do your homework and visit possible secure apartment living before renting.

I Love My Dallas Apartment; Now How Do I Get Out?

Once you’ve found the ideal place to live in Dallas, how do you get anywhere?  The old cliché “everything’s bigger in Texas” definitely applies in the category of transportation.  Dallas has many options available even if you don’t have a car.

No Car?  No Problem.

Mass transit is one of Dallas’ proudest achievements.  Dallas area rapid transit (DART) transports you to 13 different cities.  You can find the closest DART pick up station on your mobile phone; so if you’ve just rented that fabulous little Dallas apartment but you’re unfamiliar with Dallas as a whole, worry not. Your cell phone you can access DART’s mobile web site and find pick up stations, times and routes. MATA, McKinney Avenue Transit Authority, provides restored vintage trolleys, running 365 days a year; with air conditioning and heating; and the best part is…  It’s free!

Mass Transit’s Not for You?

So you leave your Dallas apartment, hit the sidewalk and grow absolutely faint at the idea of pushing your body up against dozens of others in mass transit.  Do you have a car?  Driving in Dallas is apparently no picnic. I actually found “The Newcomers Guide to Driving in Dallas, Texas”!  If you have to publish a guide that tells you how to drive in a certain area, it just can’t be good.  For those of you who are saving so much money on your tiny apartment that you can afford it, Dallas Texas Limousine Service will come to your rescue.  For you wild and crazy apartment dwellers, they even have a party bus.

So unless you have everything delivered to your apartment door and have to stay out of the sun; and get money in the mail, now you know how to navigate Dallas.
